Cool Tech from Location Intelligence
This is my first in a series of posts I will be putting on about some of the new technology that sparked my interest out here at Location Intelligence. One of the most exciting is Blue Dasher Technologies 360 degree street view solution. We had them at our booth showing off the demo and we ended up having a nice size crowd form around. We know Google has street view technology, but what we saw from Blue Dasher was a major step up in quality and features. You get a smooth animation down the street like you where driving in a car and a full 360 degree view so you can pan/tilt the view around any angle. The ad features provide virtual billboards which can display images and full motion video. The viewer dash board is skinnable and they also showed us a few different views including a simulated Land Rover style dash.
I'll be updating this blog post with a bit more information, but for now if your at the show get in touch with Mike - michael@bluedashertech.com and check out www.bluedashertech.com - you really need to see this!
Exporting a MapQuest Route to KML - Part 1
This will be the first part in a custom flex application that will create allow the user to create a multi-point route. The next step will be writing a function to output the MapQuest route into the kml format.
Vegas Strip Travel Map
Check out an application which integrates Google Maps "Street View" technology to give you a real look at the Las Vegas Strip. It features a smart user interface design that I'm sure will be adopted into more than just travel websites. User simply click a hotel parcel on the map (ie: map overlay) to your left... then get the view from that location on the right. For additional features, check out the instructions listed at the Vegas Hotel Hunt website.

MapQuest Flex / AS3 API - How to retrieve custom icons from the map and use them elsewhere
The trouble I ran into with the MapQuest Flex API is that any objects you create in Adobe's Flex are pass by reference, therefore retrieving custom icons from the Map Object can be head scratching. How can you retrieve the custom icons being displayed on the map for use in a custom control such as a map legend without removing them from the map itself?
